Terms of Use
Last updated October 8, 2026
The short version
- Your files stay in your browser. We never receive them.
- Masking is best effort, not a guarantee. Check every file before you share it.
- Pro is a one-time payment for the features listed. Future add-ons may cost extra. All sales are final.
- We can change these terms, and we can change or shut down the service.
- What you do with your data is your responsibility.
The full text below is what counts.
1. Who we are and what you agree to
Maskly is run by HEVYF LLC (“we”, “us”). These terms are a contract between you and us. By using the site, masking or restoring a file, or buying Pro, you agree to these terms, to our Privacy policy and to our Refund policy. If you do not agree, do not use Maskly.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. If you use Maskly for a company, you confirm that you can agree to these terms for it.
2. What Maskly does
Maskly runs in your web browser. It reads a spreadsheet, swaps names, emails, phone numbers, addresses and other details for made-up values, and makes a key file so the real values can be swapped back. Your files and key files are processed on your own device. We do not receive, store or see them.
3. Masking is not a guarantee
- It is pseudonymization, not anonymization. Someone who knows your business may still work out who or what a masked value stands for.
- Detection is automatic and best effort. It can miss personal data, change the wrong cells, or restore values wrongly. Free text such as notes and comments is the hardest.
- You must check the masked file before you share it, and the restored file before you rely on it.
- We do not promise that using Maskly meets any law, regulation, contract or standard, including data protection laws such as the GDPR, and rules such as HIPAA or PCI DSS.
- Nothing on this site is legal, security or compliance advice.
- The key file holds your real data. Anyone who has it can undo the masking. Keep it apart from the masked file and store it safely.
You alone decide whether a masked file is safe to share, and you alone are responsible for sharing it.
4. Your data and your responsibility
- You confirm that you have the right to load and process every file you use, and that doing so is lawful. That includes permission from the owner of the data, your employer or your clients, and any duty of confidence you owe.
- You keep your original files. We have no copy of your files, key files or passphrases, so we cannot recover them.
- You are responsible for what happens to files after they leave your browser, including sending them to other people or to AI tools.
- The masked copy holds values only. Formulas, colors, charts and comments are not carried over.
- You keep all rights in your data. We get none, because we never receive it.
5. Free plan and Pro
- Free: masking files of up to 500 rows each, and restoring without limit. These limits can change (section 12).
- Pro: a one-time payment that unlocks unlimited rows, date shifting and amount scaling. It is a license to use these features. It is not a sale of the software.
- “Lifetime” means for as long as we offer Maskly. It does not mean your lifetime, and it is not a promise that the service will exist forever (section 12).
- A Pro license is for the buyer only and cannot be transferred. It works on up to 5 browsers at a time. Your browser checks the license with our license service from time to time, and Pro switches off if the license has been disabled.
- Keep your license key private. Do not share, sell or publish it.
- If you lose a browser or move to a new computer, you can free its spot yourself with “Remove license from this browser”, or write to us. We may limit how often we free spots, and we may refuse when we think a license is being shared.
6. What Pro includes, and what it does not
Pro includes only what is described on this site when you buy it: unlimited rows, date shifting, amount scaling, and use on up to 5 browsers, in the Maskly tool that runs in your browser.
Pro does not include anything else, now or later. That covers:
- new tools, add-ons and features that we add or sell separately, such as an API, a connection to AI assistants, batch or command-line tools, team features, cloud storage of keys or files, or any service that runs on our servers;
- subscriptions, credits, support plans and training;
- new versions or products that we choose to sell as something separate.
These may cost extra, may be a subscription, and may have their own terms. Buying Pro does not give you a right to them, and adding them does not change what Pro includes.
Anything we say about plans, ideas or “coming soon” features is not a promise. Do not buy Pro because of something we might build.
7. Payments
Payments for Pro are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Price, currency and taxes are shown at checkout. Lemon Squeezy’s terms apply to your payment, and it sends your receipt and your license key by email. If you cannot find your key, write to support@maskly.app with your order details and we will help.
We may change prices at any time. A price change does not affect a license that has already been bought.
8. No refunds
All sales are final. We do not give refunds. You can try Maskly free before you pay: masking up to 500 rows, and all restoring. The full wording is on the Refund policy page, and it is part of these terms.
If you think a charge is wrong, write to us first. Opening a payment dispute or chargeback for a purchase covered by this section, instead of writing to us, can lead us to disable the license.
This section does not take away rights you have by law that cannot be waived.
9. How to reach us and raise a problem
- Email support@maskly.app. Tell us the email you bought with, your order number and what went wrong.
- We aim to reply within 5 business days. We cannot promise it.
- We may ask for your order number or purchase email before we help with a license.
- For receipts, tax and card payment questions you can also use the links in your Lemon Squeezy receipt.
- Write to us before you ask your bank for a chargeback (section 8).
- Disagreements about these terms are dealt with as set out in section 18.
10. What you must not do
- Use Maskly to break the law, or to process data you have no right to process.
- Share, resell, rent, publish or give away a license key, or use a license on more browsers than allowed.
- Try to get around the Pro checks, the free limits or the license service.
- Attack, overload, probe or scrape the site or its license service.
- Copy our site, code or design, or build a competing service from them, except where the law says you may.
11. We can change these terms
We may change these terms at any time. The new version applies as soon as we post it on this page with a new “last updated” date. If you keep using Maskly after that, you accept the new version. If you do not agree, stop using it. A change to these terms does not give you a right to a refund.
We may tell you about changes by email if we have your address, but we do not have to. Please look at this page from time to time.
12. We can change or shut down the service
We may change, limit, suspend or stop any part of Maskly, or all of it, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. This covers features, free limits, Pro features, supported file types and the license system. We may also stop selling Pro.
If we stop Maskly for good, “lifetime” ends with it. We will try to post a notice on this site when that is reasonable, but we do not have to, and we do not owe you a refund, credit or compensation. Keep your original files, and do not rely on Maskly being available in the future.
13. Disabling a license
We may disable a license key or block access, at any time and without a refund, if the key is used on more browsers than allowed, or is sold or published; a payment is refunded, reversed or disputed; the key was obtained by fraud or with a stolen card; or you break these terms. You may stop using Maskly at any time. Stopping does not entitle you to a refund.
14. Who owns what
Maskly, its software, design, text and branding belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service for your own purposes under these terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
15. No warranty
Maskly is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that it will be accurate, complete, secure, error-free or always available; that it will find all personal data; that restored values will be exactly right; that it suits your purpose; or that it does not infringe anyone’s rights. This applies to the free plan and to Pro.
16. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss, or for lost profits, revenue, savings, business, goodwill or data. This covers data breaches, leaks, regulatory fines and claims by third parties, whether the claim is in contract, tort (including negligence) or anything else, even if we were told it could happen.
- This includes anything that happens to data after it leaves your browser, such as a masked file you share, and any value that was missed, masked wrongly or restored wrongly.
- Our total liability for all claims about Maskly is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
- A claim must be brought within one year after it arose, or it is lost.
Some places do not allow some of these limits. Where that is so, the limits apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits a liability that cannot be limited by law.
17. You cover us
You agree to defend and compensate HEVYF LLC, its owners, staff and contractors against any claim, loss, cost or expense, including reasonable legal fees, that arises from your use of Maskly; the files and data you process; what you do with masked, key or restored files; or your breach of these terms or of the law.
18. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before you start any claim, email support@maskly.app and give us 30 days to try to put it right. If we cannot settle it, the courts of Wyoming, United States have exclusive jurisdiction, and you agree to them.
If you are a consumer and the law of the country where you live gives you rights that cannot be given up, those rights stay.
19. The small print
- If part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
- If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up.
- These terms, together with the Privacy policy and the Refund policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Maskly.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours, for example in a sale.
- We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by things outside our control, including outages at hosting, network, payment or browser providers.
Questions about these terms: support@maskly.app.
